A great deal has been published about mentoring in the last 25 years. If you do a literature search, you’ll come across hundreds, if not thousands, of articles dealing with every aspect of mentoring imaginable. Although helpful in understanding mentoring, these articles follow a similar theme: definition of mentoring, structure or types of mentoring, examples and lessons learned. After a while, they all begin to sound alike.
If you are interested in embarking on a business mentoring journey, unless you’re clear as to what it is, you’re likely to make several wrong turns and end up with anything but the relationship you were hoping to develop.
Just what is meant by the term “mentoring"?
Definition of mentoring:
Mentoring is a developmental relationship through which a more experienced/skilled person (mentor) assists a less experienced/skilled person (mentoree) in developing professional and personal knowledge/skills.
