Mentoring Tips: What Makes a Successful Mentoree?

Posted on Fri, Oct, 15, 2010

A successful mentoree is an individual who wants to learn, grow within their organization, and is ready to take full control of their career.  As a mentoree, it is important to recognize when help is needed, and to ask for the help.  It is also important to solicit new ideas and to try new things that your mentor may suggest.

Taking responsibility for your actions is also an important factor.  It is also important to recognize your strengths and weaknesses and to be receptive to others when they are giving you advice even if it is not what you want or expect to hear.  It would also be to your advantage to be honest and respectful of your mentor.  Remember, they are taking time out of their day to help you develop the skills that you are seeking to grow within the organization.
